In slow, muddy rivers and sun baked wetlands, the Nile Crocodile waits with only nostrils and eyes breaking the surface. The rest of its armored body lies still, disguised among ripples and floating debris.

The animal behind the card
A lightning fast lunge carries this reptile from hiding to capture, jaws slamming shut with enough force to crush bone. Large prey is dragged underwater and spun in a violent twist that tears it into manageable pieces.
Ancient stories and carvings show how long humans have lived alongside and feared this predator. Even today, respect for its power is the first rule near its waters.
