Blue Sea Dragon
Glaucus atlanticusRed
The blue sea dragon is a tiny pelagic sea slug that drifts at the ocean surface in warm and temperate waters. A gas bubble keeps it afloat upside down, with its blue side facing the sky and its pale side facing the depths to camouflage it from above and below.

The animal behind the card
Despite its delicate appearance, it feeds on floating venomous animals, especially Portuguese man o' war colonies. It retains intact stinging cells from its prey and concentrates them in the finger-like branches along its body, turning a stolen weapon into a potent defense.
Winds and currents carry these slugs across great distances and sometimes wash groups onto beaches. Each individual has both male and female reproductive organs, but two animals still mate before laying strings of eggs on floating material.
