Leopard Gecko
Eublepharis maculariusPurple
The Leopard Gecko is a ground-dwelling lizard of rocky deserts, dry grasslands, and semi-arid scrub in parts of Central and South Asia. Its yellow body and dark spots explain the name, while movable eyelids, clawed toes, and a thick tail set it apart from many familiar wall-climbing geckos.

The animal behind the card
It spends the heat of the day hidden in burrows, rock cracks, or shaded shelters, becoming more active at dusk and night. Crickets, beetles, spiders, scorpions, and other small prey make up much of its diet, and sharp hearing and vision help it detect both food and danger in low light.
When threatened, the Leopard Gecko can drop its tail to distract a predator, later regrowing a shorter, smoother replacement. That mix of camouflage, patience, sudden escape, and regeneration makes it a desert survivor built more for timing than brute force.
Bestiary facts
A leopard gecko stores emergency fuel in its tail, then can drop the tail to buy time.
