Giant Mudskipper
Periophthalmodon schlosseriRed
The Giant Mudskipper is one of the largest mudskippers, a mangrove and estuary fish built for the unstable border between land and water. Its raised eyes scan above the mud, while muscular pectoral fins let it brace, crawl, and lunge across exposed flats when the tide pulls away.

The animal behind the card
It lives in brackish creeks, tidal channels, mangrove pools, and muddy banks across parts of Southeast Asia. More predatory than many smaller mudskippers, it feeds on crabs, insects, worms, and other small animals, often defending a patch of mud or a burrow from rivals.
Its strength is not just size, but control of a changing battlefield. The Giant Mudskipper can wait in water, breathe at the surface, move over wet ground, and strike from a place where most fish would already be trapped.
Bestiary facts
Giant mudskippers patrol mud like land fish, breathing through wet skin and mouth lining.
