The animal behind the card
When threatened, it stamps its feet, arches its back and raises its tail, giving plenty of warning before resorting to its potent spray. The oily secretion can irritate eyes and cling to fur or clothing for days.
Despite their reputation, striped skunks are helpful neighbors that consume large numbers of insects, rodents and grubs. Given a bit of space, they prefer to avoid conflict and go about their nocturnal routines in peace.
