The animal behind the card
Unlike many snakes, Giant Anacondas do not hatch from eggs laid in a nest. The mother gives birth to live young, often in water, and a litter can contain dozens of babies. There is no long period of parental care: each newborn must quickly rely on camouflage and instinct.
The young snake slips between roots and aquatic plants, hunting fish, amphibians, and other manageable prey while avoiding larger predators. Over years of growth, a surviving female may eventually become one of the heaviest snakes on Earth.
