Magnificent Sea Anemone
Heteractis magnificaRed
The Magnificent Sea Anemone anchors itself to bright Indo-Pacific reefs, spreading a wide disc of tentacles into strong, clear currents. It has no rigid skeleton, but its soft body can still dominate a reef surface with venomous cells, sticky contact, and patient control of space.

The animal behind the card
Small fish, shrimp, plankton, and other reef animals can become prey when they brush against the tentacles. At the same time, clownfish may live among those same stings, gaining protection while helping defend and feed their host.
Its beauty is not delicate in the usual sense. This anemone is a living fortress of soft tissue, toxins, and mutualism, turning a fixed spot on the reef into a dangerous home.
