Green Peafowl
Pavo muticusBlue
The Green Peafowl is a tall, iridescent bird of Southeast Asian forest edges, open woodland, and grassy clearings, where the male's long train turns courtship into a fan of bronze, emerald, and blue. Its display is not just decoration: posture, vibration, calls, and eye-spotted feathers all combine to draw attention in a crowded landscape.

The animal behind the card
It feeds on seeds, fruit, shoots, insects, and small animals, moving on strong legs through cover and open ground. Males may gather females around display sites, while wary movements and short flights help the birds escape when dogs, people, or predators get too close.
The species is endangered after heavy hunting, egg collection, and the loss of lowland habitat across much of its range. The Green Peafowl carries one of the most spectacular signals in the bird world, but that brilliance now depends on connected grasslands, forests, and quiet breeding sites.
